16 years of a convention is a large feat, armed with experience and a newly minted permit, MICE, the Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo, is ready to pick up the pace and go to all new heights!

With it being New England’s largest gathering of independent cartoonists, indie comics, graphic novels, and one-of-a-kind zines, the expo will feature an amazing list of guests, including appearances by comics legends Scott McCloud, Raina Telgemeier, and ND Stevenson.
The MICE main event will take place Saturday and Sunday, December 6th and 7th, at Boston University’s Fuller Building, 808 Commonwealth Avenue, Brookline. A post-show presentation by McCloud and Telgemeier will be held on Sunday, December 7th, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Tsai Performance Center, 685 Commonwealth Ave, Boston.
Since its initiation in 2010, MICE has been New England’s largest and longest-running indie comics festival, bringing together a vibrant community to celebrate creativity and self-expression. This event offers something for everyone, from panel discussions and workshops to a diverse marketplace featuring over 200 indie comic creators.

MICE states:
“MICE is proud to present a majority of creators based in New England, with 40% of all creators being from Massachusetts. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or a seasoned creator, MICE is the place to explore the art form and engage with a community of like-minded individuals. Admission is free and open to all ages!”
MICE offers a range of family-friendly activities, including an all-day Maker Space, live drawing demonstrations, and interactive workshops designed for every skill level. Beginners can explore the basics of comics while seasoned creators work on sharpening their skills. The workshops cover subjects like writing jokes, designing characters, building fantasy settings, and trying out new materials and techniques. The panels explore relevant and engaging themes, including comics and activism, memoir storytelling, and even comics centered on talking animals.
