Apple TV has released the official trailer for season three of Shrinking, and the Emmy-nominated comedy is bringing its all-star cast and crew back together with some familiar faces from the past. Among them? Michael J. Fox, returning to TV in a role that specifically addresses his Parkinson’s diagnosis.
Fox famously left Spin City, a series executive-produced by Shrinking co-creator Bill Lawrence, when he revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis to the world. He later went on to play a recurring role on Lawrence’s long-running sitcom Scrubs. A few years ago, Fox had said he planned to retire from acting due to persistent, Parkinson’s-related speech and memory issues. Of course, acknowledging the Parkinson’s onscreen is likely a game-changer there.
The trailer also brings Jason Segel face to face with his How I Met Your Mother co-star Cobie Smulders, and suggests that the two will end up an item by the end of the season. And, of course, Scrubs and Cougar Town Christa Miller — Lawrence’s real-world wife — is back this season, too.
You can see the trailer below.
Per the official synopsis, Shrinking follows a grieving therapist (Jason Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives…including his own.
Shrinking stars Emmy-Award nominee Jason Segel and Multi-Award winner Harrison Ford, and was created by Emmy Award winners Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso) and Segel. Additional stars include Emmy-Award nominee Christa Miller, Emmy-Award nominee Jessica Williams, Deadly Class standout Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley.
Shrinking will debut its third season on Wednesday, Jan. 28, and run through April on Apple TV.
