LEGO has been killing it lately with all the awesome new collabs targeted at adult brick builders, and its first collab with the Star Trek Franchise was no exception. Here, at Stately Beat Manor, a.k.a. your home for all things nerd-related, we loved the Enterprise-D build and have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next LEGO x Star Trek set. And now, rumor has it that the next set that Trekkies can look forward to is a diorama of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701’s bridge.

According to StoneWars, an independent LEGO blog,

“The starting point for speculation about the next LEGO Star Trek set on social media are photos of two minifigure torsos and a special new minifigure hair element that we believe to be authentic and that have been making the rounds on social media […] It’s clearly visible that the logos on the torsos can be attributed to the Original Series, where James T. Kirk is the captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701.”

“Two different colored, printed torsos are visible: the iconic red uniform (‘red shirt’) that identifies the engineering or security crew, which includes someone like Montgomery Scott (‘Scotty’), and also a light blue torso with insignia print that identifies the science officers – a uniform worn by Dr. Leonard McCoy or Spock in the Original Series,” continues the post. “The latter is probably more likely due to another detail, as the leaked material also shows a hairpiece with straight, black hair and pointed ears that’s reminiscent of the famous ear shape of Vulcans.”

Fans are speculating, at least based on the current rumors, that the next set will be inspired by Star Trek: The Original Series. StoneWars offers further speculation on what this set could look like, writing:

“At this point, we don’t expect to get another version of the Enterprise as a complete starship this year, but instead consider an implementation of the iconic bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 to be much more likely. The bridge of the NCC-1701 enjoys great popularity and has already been implemented by several MOC designers. It could probably be implemented quite well at an appropriate scale with many details and populated by several minifigures, and without the set having to become as large and expensive as the Enterprise-D last year.”

I’m inclined to believe the rumors of this particular rumor mill. When it came to the Enterprise-D set, it was first leaked to LEGO bloggers, and the rumors/speculation about what it would be all proved true.

What I’m excited about is what the special pre-order set could be for an NCC-1701 bridge – no bloody A, B, C, or D – and I have some hopeful speculation.

  • An “Arena” set – Captain Kirk versus Gorn, with the Kirk figure coming in a ripped shirt variant, and a diorama depicting Vasquez Rocks.
  • Captain Pike and Number One, maybe with those weird blue flowers and a Talosian for good measure.
  • BEM – a funny LEGO build because the character BEM separates into pieces, and LEGO people separate into pieces. This could even be like the larger busts and dolls that have come out in recent years.

And in case you’re wondering, LEGO is now cheaper than gas in the United States. Don’t drive… build!
