Searchlight Pictures has released the official trailer for Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come, the forthcoming sequel to the 2019 horror-comedy hit Ready Or Not starring Samara Weaving. In the new film, Grace (Weaving) wakes up chained to her hospital bed following the events of Ready Or Not, and soon learns that her overnight battle with the De Lomas family was just the beginning.

The movie obviously takes a page from Halloween II‘s book, extending Grace’s original night of terror, but it also seems to owe a little bit of its vibe to the John Wick films, with a powerful group of families and a “head of the table” who controls the world. For all intents and purposes, the stakes this time are that Grace will either earn that title herself — or die trying.

You can see the trailer below.

The lore established presumably opens up the world to even more follow-ups if Ready or Not 2 is the kind of hit that the first installment was — but also offer some flexibility, so that the studio doesn’t need to wait five years to get Samara Weaving in for future sequels. This time around, Grace has a sister — Grace, played by Kathryn Newton — who is brought in as leverage against her.

After the success of Ready or Not, the filmmakers — Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who are credited as Radio Silence — earned themselves a seat at Hollywood’s own big table, directing a pair of Scream sequels.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come also stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, David Cronenberg, Elijah Wood, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, Varun Saranga, and Daniel Beirne.

You can see the official synopsis below.

Moments after surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace (Samara Weaving) discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come will be in theaters next year.
