The Pokémon Company made a host of announcements during its Pokémon Day presentation on Friday, AKA Pokémon Day.

In addition to the next mainline games, Pokémon Wind and Waves, the stream also revealed updates for several existing games and revealed characters from Pokémon Pokopia, which releases on Nintendo Switch 2 on March 5.

Here’s everything announced during the Pokémon Day 2026 presentation.

Pokémon Wind and Waves

Pokémon Wind and Waves will release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. In addition to two dressed Pikachu characters wearing their tropical vacation best (Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu), the brief trailer shown Friday also revealed the game’s three new starters: Browt, a grass chicken; Pombon, a fire dog; and Gecqua, a water reptile.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A introduces Mega Garchomp Z

Mega Garchomp Z has made his debut in the Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension DLC. In honor of Pokémon Day, players can encounter the Dragon-type Pokémon and get a Mystery Gift after defeating him in battle.

Additionally, Z-A will soon be linkable to Pokémon HOME, allowing players to send the Pokémon they’ve caught and trained in-game to the Nintendo Switch version of HOME and add certain Pokémon from past games to their Z-A teams. Unfortunately, the reverse is not true: Z-A Pokémon can’t be transferred to past games.

Those who transfer Z-A Pokémon to HOME on the Switch will receive an alpha Chikorita, alpha Tepig, and alpha Totodile as Mystery Gifts on the mobile version of HOME.

Pokémon Pokopia reveals DJ Rotom, Chef Dente

A Pokémon Pokopia trailer during the Pokémon Day 2026 presentation revealed a first look at Stereo Rotom, a boombox-shaped form of Rotom that other Pokémon refer to as DJ Rotom. As players collect CDs during their adventures in-game, they can give them to Stereo Rotom and he’ll play music.

Additionally, the trailer also showed farming and cooking, the latter taught by a special Greedent known as Chef Dente. Much like in other Pokémon games, each Pokémon has different foods they prefer, and cooking and gifting those dishes will affect their happiness and the player’s bond with them.

The game releases on Nintendo Switch 2 next week on March 5. Anyone who buys the game between now and January 31, 2027 will get a Ditto Rug as an early purchase bonus.
