Max has released the trailer for Peacemaker season two, premiering Thursday, August 21, at 9pm ET/PT.
The new season follows Christopher “Chris” Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost.
The trailer establishes Smith (John Cena)’s place in DC Studios‘ new universe pretty quickly, with him trying and failing to join Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn)’s Justice League; Superman‘s Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Guy Gardner/Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion) also appear with Lord in the interview room, finding themselves unimpressed by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis)’s former prize asset.
During the rest of the trailer, we learn new A.R.G.U.S. leader Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) has set out to avenge his son’s murder, which Smith committed in 2021’s The Suicide Squad; that Flag’s subordinate Langston Fleury (Tim Meadows) has some seriously bad taste in codenames; and that Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) is not dealing with her near-death experience in the most healthy way. It’s all capped off by Smith returning to his late father Auggie (Robert Patrick)’s lair, where he’s confronted by another version of himself. Is the new DCU already dealing with the multiverse? It sure seems like it.
Peacemaker season two, which will arrive three years after the first, also sees the return of Danielle Brooks as Smith’s best friend (and Waller’s daughter) Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Steve Agee as John Economos, and Eagly as himself. New additions include David Denman and Sol Rodriguez, the latter of whom is playing A.R.G.U.S.’s Sasha Bordeaux. Series creator James Gunn wrote all eight episodes and directed three, while the rest were helmed by Greg Mottola, Peter Sollett, and Althea Jones.
As well as the trailer, you can check out the new key art below; and if that’s not enough to tide you over until August 21, then be sure to check out Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner in James Gunn’s Superman, releasing in theaters July 11, 2025.
