Vault Comics has revealed Nectar, a horror series written by author Jeremy Robinson (the Nemesis Saga), featuring art by Annapaola Martello (Captain Marvel) & Francesco Francini (Masters of Horror), colors by Steve Canon, lettering by Jim Campbell, and design by Tim Daniel. Beginning March 4, the series sees a species of bloodsucking butterflies bring about a “Dancing Plague” on an island village off the coast of Salem, Massachusetts.

“When my wife, Hilaree, and I started spitballing story concepts, all I knew was that I wanted to create a new Victorian monster to rival Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, and werewolves,” says Robinson. “Our twisted imaginations went to work and just minutes later we had blood-sucking butterflies and the dancing plague wrapped together, along with the title: Nectar. I loved the idea so much, I started writing the script the next day.”
He continues, saying, “A month later, script complete, we signed on an amazing artist tag team — Annapaola Martello and Francesco Francini. Every page they delivered was amazing, and then our colorist, Steve Canon, metamorphosed the black-and-white pages into something brilliant and beautiful to look at, butterflies and blood-soaked corpses alike! It’s rare to work on a project that is inspired from beginning to end. Nectar is one of those unique experiences that comes along just a few times in a creator’s career.”
The book is the first of four series Vault has lined up from Robinson, following its deal with his imprint Breakneck Comics earlier this year; expect more details on those at a later time. Robinson’s previous comics include Project Nemesis, Island 731, and Godzilla: Rage Across Time. The book also marks the US debut for Francini, a layout artist who has primarily worked in the Italian comics industry.
Cover artists for the comic will include Chris Shehan, Jason Shawn Alexander, Maan House, Danny Luckert, Jonathan Wayshak, Suspiria, and Robinson himself, some of whom’s work you can check out below:
