Via The Hollywood Reporter, Oni Press has announced writer/artist Matt Kindt is moving his Flux House imprint to the publisher. Flux, which Kindt established at Dark Horse in 2022, will begin releasing old and new books via Oni in 2026. Additionally, the deal grants access of Kindt’s books to Oni parent company Polarity, who will help him develop films, TV, animation, video games, and audio based on his work.

Kindt says, “I wanted to put all of our books where they would be safe and wanted someone who would be a good steward of the books. Every artist I work with, we love making comics. And this provides us the freedom to keep doing what we’re doing.” Oni president and publisher Hunter Gorinson, who previously worked with Kindt at BOOM! Studios, Bad Idea, and on Oni’s revival of EC Comics, stresses, “We at Oni want to put comics in the center of what we’re doing. Despite the dimensions of Flux House and our broader deal with Matt and his creators, we are not some sort of transmedia operation. If we can’t make great comics and make the comics stand on their own, why are we running a comic book company?”
The new books will include an ongoing revival of Mind MGMT (2012-15), Mind MGMT: New and Improved, which Kindt will write and draw, and begin in June. The second book will be Fort Psycho, a 12-issue maxiseries created with Brian Hurtt, that’s described as a cross between Mission: Impossible and LOST. It will follow “a disgraced strike team [that] finds itself on a tropical island paradise stocked with trained killers, secret betrayals, and the long-buried truth about the mission that brought them there.”

Gorinson says, “I know it sounds hyperbolic, but [Fort Psycho] is kind of like a Watchmen-level book where you’re taking the archetypes of a G.I Joe or Mission: Impossible and deconstructing them in a new and inventive way that is built like a Swiss watch building towards a giant finale.” Kindt adds, “Every book I’m working on I think is the best book I’ve ever done, but that one may, for real, be the best book.” Fort Psycho will begin in August, and be followed later in 2026 by the anthology Flux House Presents.
In the meantime, Kindt’s last creator-owned series at Dark Horse, the three-issue Space Scouts (co-created by David Rubín), will debut on November 5, and be collected in hardcover on May 26, 2026. You’ll also be able to meet Kindt at an Oni Press signing at this week’s New York Comic Con.

I look forward to seeing where Mind MGMT goes. Thanks for this!
