Playmates Toys has unveiled Kaiju Power Rangers, an action figure line based on BOOM! Studios and IDW Publishing’s 2024 comic book series Godzilla vs. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers II. The first wave, featuring the Green Godzilla Ranger, Red Rodan Ranger, and Blue Anguirus Ranger, will be released at Target in March, where each figure will retail for $15.99.

The line was revealed at this weekend’s annual Toy Fair in New York, where the next wave of toys based on the comic, consisting of Black King Caesar Ranger, Yellow Baragon Ranger, and Pink Mothra Ranger, was shown to the public. A toy of Godzilla himself, merged with the Green Ranger’s Dragonzord, was also displayed at the event.

The news apparently came as a surprise to Cullen Bunn, who created the comic with Baldemar Rivas, and wrote its 2022 predecessor (penciled by Freddie E. Williams II.) He stated on Bluesky, “What are the chances someone sends [Rivas] and I some of these toys? Even though we created them… I’m betting zero.” The writer had recently launched a non-profit, called the Midnight Foundation, intended to spark a sense of community and imagination among families interested in genre works, beginning with bundled gifts of books, toys, and more for the holiday season.

The line was one of several announcements during Toy Fair from Playmates, who’ve held the license for Power Rangers from Hasbro since 2024. Playmates, who’ll celebrate their 60th anniversary this year, recently lost the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles rights (which they’d held since 1988) to Mattel, but plan to end their time with the property in style this year, with another Hasbro crossover, TMNT x G.I. Joe. The company previously brought together the turtles and Godzilla last year, shortly before IDW’s crossover series.

While Power Rangers has been absent from TV screens since 2023’s Cosmic Fury (something set to continue with the end of its Japanese source material, Super Sentai, this year), the comics are still going strong at BOOM!, with Power Rangers Prime #15 set to release on March 4. Godzilla, meanwhile, continues to star in IDW’s reimagining, and is set to return to the big screen in the Japanese sequel Godzilla Minus Zero on November 6, as well as in Legendary’s Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, due out March 26, 2027.
