Last week Marvel made its first announcement for The Age of Revelation, an alternate future created by the heir Apocalypse Revelation (formerly Doug Ramsey). The tease for this newest crossover hinted at a world that was part Age of Apocalypse and part Days of Future Past. Once again, the X-Men must struggle through a nightmare world before finding a way to set things right. Well, right until the next nightmare future or alternate reality finds Marvel’s merry mutants.
Maybe the most intriguing part of that tease were the titles for the books taking place during this new world. Now Marvel release the first, of what are sure to be many, synopses and creative teams. Even mastermind Jed MacKay will tackle Amazing X-Men but the name that will perk up most folks ears is Jonathan Hickman. Hickman famously revived the X-Men and ushered in the fan favorite Age of Krakoa and seems to be doing something similar in the Imperial mini series. He hasn’t written an X-men story since the Inferno mini series so his return to the books, co-writing Longshots with his successor Gerry Duggan, is sure to be a big deal.
But Hickman and MacKay won’t be the only draws for this event. This first announcement promises creators such as Erica Schultz, Jesus Merino, Ryan North, Mahmud Asrar, and Al Ewing on this first line up of books. Additionally, the synopses for this event hint at a pretty fascinating world being conjured up. All of these announcements certainly make this event more enticing. The Age of Revelation will start in October while Marvel has promised more related announcements to coming out of San Diego Comic Con. We’ll continue coverage on what sure to be one of the most massive events to hit Marvel in awhile. For now, check out these first synopsis and creative teams.
