Declan Shalvey and Rory McConville, the writing duo behind the Image Comics series Time Before Time, are reuniting for another mind-bending time-travel series, Dynamite‘s The Terminator: Metal, with art by Lorenzo Re. The first issue will feature brutally beautiful covers by Shalvey, Sebastian Piriz, Ivan Tao, and Bob Layton.
The newest addition to Dynamite’s line of Terminator comics will take readers deeper into the Future War era than ever before. According to the official PR, each issue of the new anthology series will deliver a standalone tale delving into “the triumphs and tragedies of those caught in the eternal war with the machines and the struggle to hold onto their humanity after the world has ended.”
At the center of the opening arc (issue #1) is Percy Dalton, a resistance engineer thrust into a perilous mission alongside an unexpected companion: a deactivated Terminator known as Tex. As they journey through No Man’s Land, Percy and Tex confront more than just deadly dangers—they grapple with questions of trust, identity, and what truly separates human from machine.
Read the description of issue #1 below:
KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE — AND YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER!
In the post-apocalyptic future that follows Judgment Day, the shattered remnants of humanity must make use of every tool they can in their existential battle against the machines — and that includes the deadliest weapons that Skynet sends to annihilate them.
For one member of the Resistance, this means trusting his life to a reprogrammed Terminator. Trapped behind enemy lines, the soldier and his repurposed engine of destruction must find a way to both survive and complete their mission — an undertaking with such a low probability of success that it could reboot the Terminator back to its default settings!
