A new quest in the latest Hello Kitty Island Adventure update pays homage to KPop Demon Hunters, and it’s delightful.

Spoilers for Hello Kitty Island Adventure below!

Aptly titled “Pop Princesses,” this Visitor Quest features Cinnamoroll, the Cinnamoangels—Mocha, Azuki, and Chiffon—and the Lloromannic, Berry and Cherry. To unlock the quest, players need to have all five visitors at five stars and they need to be permanent island residents. Players also need to have completed the quest series “The Band Is Back” and the quests “Island Showstoppers” and “Ingenious Mischief and Pranks Society.”

The Cinnamoangels have a concert tonight, but Mocha’s voice is on the fritz, much like Rumi’s in KPop Demon Hunters. To make matters worse, the Lloromannic have also planned a show, with the intention of stealing the Cinnamoangels fans.

When the player goes to see what the Lloromannic are up to, Berry and Cherry are writing a song with the lyrics, “We’re the idols you desire, we’re the stars up in your sky…” and “Who needs wings when you’ve got horns? Let us teach your soul to fly.” While not as elegant, these lyrics are similar to those in “Your Idol,” performed by the Saja Boys in KPDH.

Despite the Cinnamoangels sending invitations to their concert to everyone on Friendship Island, no one shows up because they are all under a sleeping spell put upon them by the Lloromannic. The player and Cinnamoroll wake everyone to go to the Cinnamoangels show, where the girls perform a song very similar to HUNTR/X hit “Golden.” The lyrics include,

We’re here, and we’re shining! Shining like a diamond! Glittering like silver, you know that we’re the winners! Not afraid of anything, we’ll show the world how we can sing! We’re Ci-nna-mo-angels! Ci, Ci-nna-mo-angels! We’re going up, up so high! Flap your ears into the sky! Cinnamoangeeeeeels!

This short and sweet quest both unites the Cinnamoangels and the Lloromannic in an unexpected way and appeals to KPop Demon Hunters fans. And let’s face it—the cross-section of people who love KPDH and play Hello Kitty Island Adventure is likely pretty massive. It’s an excellent marriage of two beloved IPs.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is available on Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
