On May 16th, Prime Video announced has announced a Multi-title licensing deal with GLITCH PRODUCTIONS to bring their animated web series to Amazon’s streaming service. This comes after another of Glitch Productions‘ web series, The Amazing Digital Circus, has been brought to Netflix on October 4th, 2024.

Glitch Productions is an independent animation company founded in 2017 and has created several beloved animated web series such as Murder Drones, The Amazing Digital Circus, The Gaslight District, and the upcoming Knights of Guinevere. This multi-title licensing deal will begin with the sci-fi horror comedy, Murder Drones. This fan-favorite series has garnered over 270 million views on YouTube since its debut in 2022.  Audiences have fallen in love with this unique world created by Liam Vickers, with its unique blend of humor, horror, and survival in a frozen post-apocalyptic world. As well as falling in love with its expansive cast of hormonally unstable and murderous robots such as Uzi, N, V, and my personal favorite, Cyn!

All eight episodes of this darkly imaginative series are now available to watch on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Glitch productions founders, Kevin and Luke Lerdwichagul had this to say about the licensing deal:

“Our mission has always been to creatively and systemically change the animation industry for the better. As part of this higher vision, we’ve partnered with Prime Video, who have agreed to support us and our future shows in a multi-title licensing deal.  What this means is, we keep operating independently, doing what we’re doing, and Prime Video will give us the support necessary to do more for indie animation and creators than we could have previously”

This multi-licensing deal is considered to be a big win in the world of independent animation, as having most of Glitch productions’ projects be available for streaming worldwide while also retaining full creator rights is a big deal. This unique deal will bring new audiences to the world of indie animation, and hopefully will allow for more potential opportunities for other independent creators and studios to have their works be widely available to audiences both new and old.

In additional news, to celebrate this deal, if you’re in New York City or Los Angeles, chances are you might spot a Murder Drones advertisement nearby Penn station (NYC) and on Sunset Boulevard (LA). I had the chance to spot the Murder Drones ad while passing by Penn station for unrelated reasons, though Glitch productions has gone on to encourage fans to share photos of the ads in those locations via X/Twitter.
