Ahoy Comics has partnered with Universal Distribution, adding to its continuing relationships with Simon & Schuster and Lunar Distribution. Universal will distribute Ahoy’s single issues throughout Canada, with trade paperback editions being phased in over the coming months.
September books are available to order now and Canadian retailers now have access to some previously unavailable August titles as well. US comic book retailers can still get Ahoy’s full catalogue through Lunar Distribution, and North American booksellers can still access its new and backlist trade paperbacks through Simon & Schuster.
“It’s been a tsunami in the distribution network lately,” said Ahoy publisher Hart Seely. “We’ve been working hard to be sure all retailers can order AHOY books, and we’re happy to have worked out an arrangement that should make that possible.”
“It’s like beauty to be working with Universal, eh?” added Canadian ops manager and chief mounted officer at Ahoy, Ulysses P. Cannuck. “I tip my tocque, right, to these hard-working hoser heroes, who’ll be helping to get Ahoy Comics to the far-flung denizens of the Provinces.”
Ahoy is also parting ways with Diamond Comic Distributors. Beginning in August—specifically books shipping on the 13th—Ahoy titles will no longer be available through Diamond. This follows months of controversy surrounding Diamond that has sent a large part of the industry into something of a tailspin.
