What’s Happened So Far
Morgana Winterberry is the latest in a long line of witchy individuals. However, Morgana has never hesitated to approach magic her own way, regardless of her family’s traditions. But she’s also prone to having her spells go awry. Meanwhile, a volatile situation arises during negotiations between the Winterberry family and their longtime rivals, the Red Vampire Clan.
Due to a fateful feline encounter, Morgana meets one of the vampires, Oz. While there seems to be chemistry between the two, tensions boil over at the meeting between their families when the Red Vampire Clan is mysteriously poisoned and a Winterberry elder goes missing. As a result of the commotion, Morgana accidentally casts a spell that transforms Oz into a cat. And the situation is further complicated by the fact that the Winterberrys are being investigated for the use of forbidden magic.
In order to get to the bottom of the conflict between the Winterberrys and the Red Vampire Clan, Morgana and Oz form a Capulet-and-Montague-type alliance. While they’re working on getting to the bottom of the conflict between their families, Morgana focuses on returning Oz to his true form.
Eventually, and with the assistance of Victor, who already knows Oz, Morgana is able to return Oz to his original form. But more problems arise when Morgana’s brother Mordecai vanishes as well. Nevertheless, Morgana agrees to turn her efforts towards assisting the Red Vampire Clan in breaking the curse that has befallen them. Eventually, she successfully frees the Red Vampire Clan from the curse. But this also confirms that someone in her family was responsible for casting it in the first place…
Morgana and Oz, Vol. 3
That’s where Morgana and Oz Vol. 3 picks up the narrative. Morgana continues to learn more about the Red Vampire Clan, including their leader, Roland. Mordecai is in the custody of the vampires, but they are no longer as invested in his captivity since Morgana has erased the curse that plagued them.
Meanwhile, Morgana and Mordecai’s grandfather remains in the custody of the Winterberrys. Thanks to the help Morgana gave the Red Vampire Clan, Rory agrees that they’ll help find the Winterberry elder, a plan supported by Oz. Mordecai still doesn’t trust the Red Vampire Clan. But Rory helps convince him by revealing a portrait of a young Rory and the Winterberry siblings’ great great grandfather. However, the friendship soured when the Winterberry ancestor turned to dark magic.
As the Winterberry siblings and the Red Vampire Clan begin to get to know one another better, ti becomes clear that the relationship between their two families is more complicated than either side might care to believe. With so many questions, Morgana resolves to solve the mysteries surrounding their family histories for herself.
Meanwhile, the romantic tension between the pair continues to simmer. But what will the Winterberry siblings discover when they return home? Do the elder Winterberrys have something to do with the mysterious creatures prowling the local woods? And can the Winterberry clan stay ahead of the magic inspector… or do they deserve to face consequences for their actions?
