Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld may have decided to move on from the iconic character, but that doesn’t mean Marvel can’t revisit some past glory with Wade Wilson. This spring, the publisher has announced the release of Deadpool: April Pool’s Day #1, a one-shot written by Gail Simone, one of the writers most credited with making Deadpool a superstar.
This isn’t the first time Marvel has done April Pool’s Day, and in addition to the one-shot, the publisher has plans that involve merchandise, digital content, and more.
Revealed in the April 2026 solicitations, Deadpool: April Pool’s Day #1 will feature art by C.F. Villa and a number of variant covers. The one-shot teases “universe-ending calamity,” suggesting that while Wade is having a bit of fun…that might not be true for everybody!
In a month full of massive events like Ultimate Endgame and the Spider-Man/Superman crossover, April Pool’s Day offers fans a chance to get big, broad, and fantastical in a way that’s less likely to shape the whole future of the Marvel Universe — but, of course, it’s Deadpool, so you never really know.
You can see the solicitation text for the issue below.
