We are all eagerly waiting for the release of DC Studios’ first feature film, Superman, out this July 11. DC’s promotional arm is in full swing with one month before the release of the movie. We’ve seen a sold-out Superman Collector’s Bundle featuring an art print, hat, and comic book to get you ready for the movie, even a limited-edition Milk-Bone Superman comic book that came in a box of dog treats. You get Superman: A Friendship Unleashed #1 to read, and your pup gets treats, or you can switch. What a deal!
But no promotional campaign goes without a hitch, and this upcoming Wednesday, some comic book stores might not be as enthusiastic about the new Superman movie. There is a Wonka-like golden ticket giveaway to attend the world premiere of Superman in Los Angeles.
DC President/Publisher/COO Jim Lee explained where to find these two golden tickets in a post on social media:

Go to your LCS, buy the book, and get a chance to go to the premiere; it’s easy! But there is an issue. According to Rich Johnson from Bleeding Cool, the consolation prize in these books is a 30-day trial to DC Universe Infinite’s Ultra Tier.
A free 30-day trial for the DC Universe Infinite’s Ultra tier, which lets people stream digital DC Comics titles a month after print publication, as well as original digital titles. Otherwise known as the comic book store’s greatest modern rival. And retailers have now paid for the privilege of promoting it.
So, comic retailers: will you be promoting this facsimile comic from DC? According to Johnson
I understand that amongst angered retailers, many who have already thrown away every copy they ordered, a rebellion is already upon us, looking to DC Comics for a refund or another option. But maybe retailers committed to trashing the lot might want to actually open them all and see, just in case, they did have that Golden Ticket after all.
