Welcome to this week’s installment of The Beat‘s Comics Crowdfunding Round-Up!

Let’s look at a new age of fantasy, a new edition that rises to the top, a sapphic thriller, and much more!

The New Age

Creators: Morgan Hickman (Writer/Artist)
Goal: $2,700
End Date: December 19, 2025
Goodies: Get the digital copy for $5, the physical copy for $20, a signed copy for $25, or, at higher tiers, get the “Mage Tier” for $35!

It’s been 200 years since a human has been able to use magic, until now. A girl born to a distant tribe is now the world’s only hope.

The New Age doesn’t have a lot as far as promotional art on its project page; however, it does have an endearing video. Hickman shows off what he has, and although it isn’t a lot, he exudes a sincere stature that I couldn’t overlook. Because of this, I made it through his video and got to see his plans for his project. Showing off his high fantasy world, where a mana attuned child is born, something that has not happened for 200 years. It’s interesting, but what sells it the most is Hickman’s cartoon art style, which is both intricate and full of life. I couldn’t help but want more.

RISE #1 Wraparound Edition (issues 1-4 available!)

Creators: Trevor Fernandes-Lenkiewicz (Writer)
Goal:
$2,500
End Date: December 23, 2025
Goodies: Get the digital copy for $7, the new physical edition for $15, Rise #2 (Cover A) for $15, or at higher tiers get the Rise #1 (New Edition, Cover B) for $25 and much more!

A new edition of Rise #1! Subverting The Hero’s Journey: What would happen if you had to FEEL GOOD to DO GOOD?

Rise has made an appearance on the Round-Up before; it’s a successful campaign that has seen multiple projects funded through Kickstarter, and now writer Trevor Fernandes-Lenkiewicz and artist Ryan Best have returned to deliver a brand new edition.

With a new wraparound cover and features behind the scenes features and interviews with the creative team. Now, backers can follow the story of Jonathan A. Prufrock as he comes face-to-face with the dangers of male ego, while attempting to save the world. A take on superhero stories for a new generation that is more aware of its anxiousness and is just as skeptical as ever.

The Art of Sunstone

Creators:  Top Cow Productions, Stjepan Seijic (Artist)
Goal: $25,000
End Date: December 18, 2025
Goodies: Get the digital copy for $15, the physical copy for $49, the deluxe bundle for $99, or at higher tiers, get the retail tier for $123!

Some art books belong on the coffee table – this one belongs under it, because it’s been a bad book and it needs to be punished!

Seijic is well known for his art and work in Witchblade, Rat Queens, and, of course, Sunstone. His unique style stands out against titans in the industry, and it’s no surprise that this project has already amassed over $340,000 and counting, with the last week of the project finally upon backers.

It’s crazier when you realize this was Seijic’s last foray into the world of comics. What started as doodles and a last-ditch effort to get a project out here has now turned into a beloved fantasy comic that has only led him to greater heights. If you’re a fan of fantasy, beautiful art, and a limited collection, make sure to get this art book before it’s too late.

War Eternal. A Tabletop role-playing game.

Creators: Paul Bellanca (Creator/Writer)
Goal: $5,000
End Date: February 3, 2026
Goodies: Get the hardback of the original core rule book for $100!

Were you there when the stars fell? When their impact hammered the bones of creation?

War Eternal caught my eye because of its rough sketches; it looked interesting, but more importantly, like a dark fantasy that was trying to be something different from the rest. Paul Bellanca explains that the project is meant to be a completely independent TTRPG, a community-driven project full of different creators who will submit their own content and expand an already growing universe. That’s why he’s looking for funding through Kickstarter.

While it might just be Bellanca currently, with more artists and creators being added to the project, it looks to be something that a whole community of TTRPG fanatics can build on, and I can’t help but be excited for that. Keep an eye on this one, it might just deliver on more than it already promised.
