80 pages of systemic friction at the personal level, where social forces, cultures, and economic strata meet and grind together.
We are boosting this project once again! Systemic is in its final week, and the project has been fully funded! If the following interests you, make sure to check this project out! Studio 12-7 has released four successful projects through Kickstarter, with two more projects underway. It takes a lot to manage the amount of work put into these projects, so it is no surprise to us at The Beat that Systemic caught our eye. It’s a sci-fi comics anthology collecting stories from various writers and artists, over points in which society clashes, achieving this while also collecting a team of rising stars in the mainstream and indie fields.
Systemic looks amazing, and it’s obvious how much work has been put into it by simply looking through the project page. If you are a fan of deep storytelling and a fantastic take on sci-fi, this is the project for you. For more information, check out our interview here!
Macabre Valley #1
Creators: Zack Quaintance
Goal: $6,500
End Date: October 15, 2025
Goodies: Get the main cover for $18, the digital edition for $5, the variant covers for $15, or at higher tiers get the artist edition tier for $35, and much more!
A grindhouse Texas horror comic.
As far as ideas go, Macabre Valley really did a number on me. For starters, the story follows a young reporter covering the story of a border patrol agent who is gruesomely murdered. The kicker? At the center of this story is a priest and a werewolf; a violent mystery unravels from there. Our own Zack Quaintance is its creator, with stunning artwork from artist Anna Readman, and colorist Brad Simpson.
Readers get to dive into a cell-shaded dark fantasy that explores Quaintance’s real experiences as a night cops reporter in McAllen, Texas, with an added flair of things that go bump in the night. If you’re a fan of horror, monsters, and phenomenal artwork, make sure to check this campaign out!
SPACE RELIC HUNTERS: Smugglers, Rebels, and Sacred Ruins

Goal: $7,500
End Date: October 3, 2025
Goodies: Get the digital copy for $12, the hardcover for $25, the limited edition for $65, or at higher tiers, get the “Mars Double Feature” for $99, and much more!
Runberg and Grun forge a post-religious galactic empire full of rogue adventurers defying divine legions for forbidden alien relics.
This campaign deserves your attention because Space Relic Hunters is one hell of an experience. The story throws you into a galaxy ruled by gods and torn apart by rebellion, and the art from Grun is nothing short of phenomenal. Every page is packed with cinematic detail that makes the universe feel alive, dangerous, and worth getting lost in.
Backing now means you are not only picking up the book but also getting exclusive rewards like Exo-planet postcards, glow in the dark Beacon Sigil stickers, and a Mindseal tattoo that ties directly into the world of the story. It is the kind of project that blends great storytelling with equally ambitious presentation, and that is rare. If you are into Dune, Mass Effect, or Guardians of the Galaxy, this campaign delivers that same thrill while carving out a world all its own.
The Ecstasy of Jenny D – New original comic by Pigeon!

Goal: $6,775
End Date: October 11, 2025
Goodies: Get the digital copy for $10, the physical copy for $21, the “Guardian Angel” tier for $55, or at higher tiers get the retailer tier for $61!
Bridgerton meets the dancing plague in this surreal tale of sisterhood, repressed queerness and divine intervention.
Now this campaign is worth something, truly: The Ecstasy of Jenny D takes a familiar setting and turns it completely on its head. On the surface, it is a sharp, satirical take on historical fiction, but beneath the frills and etiquette lies a story about sisterhood, queerness, and rebellion against the roles forced onto young women. The art and design are beautiful, capturing both the playful excess of a Bridgerton-style world and the surreal chaos of archangels, plagues, and prayers gone too far.
Supporting the book now means joining a project that balances silliness with sincerity! We need more of that in this space. It means something to have creators bring this kind of project to life.
Making space for both laughter and heartbreak while at its core, this comic asks what happens when young women stop playing by the rules and start rewriting them with divine backing. If you like your stories bold, stylized, and brimming with defiance, this is one you do not want to miss.
Those That Inherit the Earth Volume 1

Goal: $12,000
End Date: October 18, 2025
Goodies: Get the physical copy for $35, the deluxe edition for $100, the signed editions for $250, or at higher tiers, get the artifact edition for $500, and more!
An episodic graphic novel following a mutant opossum and the last living human as they explore a changed, post-human Earth.
I won’t lie — the campaign caught my attention for one simple reason: Those That Inherit the Earth gives me a mutant opossum to fawn over. However, I am happy to report it does more than that to deliver a post-apocalyptic story with heart, imagination, and a visual style that begs to be experienced in a deluxe hardcover.
At its core, Those That Inherit the Earth follows Tenderfoot, a mutant opossum learning what it means to be alive, and Valerie, the last human astronaut stranded in a world that has no place for her old skills. Together, they wander a strange, reborn Earth filled with mystery, danger, and the lingering echoes of humanity.
Backing this book means not only supporting an epic blend of sword-and-sci-fi with hints of sorcery, but also unlocking incredible stretch goals that expand the story. We are talking bonus illustrations, new pages, and even an entire extra chapter. The art is lush, the worldbuilding is layered, and the format itself is designed to be beautiful, with a clothbound hardcover built to last. If you love Kamandi, Farscape, or Conan the Barbarian, this campaign is calling your name.
Stellar Remnant #1

Goal: $2,000
End Date: October 21, 2025
Goodies: The digital copy is $20, the art tier is $100, the super ego bundle is $140, and at higher tiers, the “Dealer’s Choice” tier is $350, and much more.
A comic miniseries about a disillusioned sentai who discovers his long lost partner is not only alive but fighting for the enemy.
I’ve always had a soft spot for tokusatsu. To some, it might seem silly, but to me it has always felt like one of the deepest explorations of the human will to keep going. Maybe that sounds like an exaggeration, but I know I’m not alone in feeling that way. That’s why projects like this captivate me so much. Seeing the amount of work and heart poured into these comics is inspiring.
Cayanan has built this story entirely on his own, diving into the life of a Sentai veteran who is tired, worn down, and haunted by regret at the end of his career. His world is shaken when he discovers that his estranged partner isn’t dead after all, they have chosen to fight alongside the alien invaders they once swore to defeat. Of course, the truth is more complicated, and motivations begin to unravel in ways that challenge everything he thought he knew.
I can’t say enough about how excited I am for this project. If you’re a fan of emotionally-charged storytelling, stunning art, and the spirit of Power Rangers taken to deeper, more personal places, this is one you should absolutely check out.
Gaston Leroux’s Phantom of the Opera Starring Lon Chaney

Goal: $70,000
End Date: October 15, 2025
Goodies: Get the digital bundle for $15, the graphic novel for $30, the “retailer tier” for $75, or opt for higher tiers to receive the “Triple Feature Bundle” for $79, and more!
An original graphic novel of Gaston Leroux’s Phantom of the Opera Starring Lon Chaney
This project is something fans of classic horror and comics should not miss. Gaston Leroux’s Phantom of the Opera Starring Lon Chaney brings one of the most iconic performances in cinema history back to life on the page. Lon Chaney’s Phantom, with his haunting make-up and unforgettable presence, has defined the character for a century, and now that likeness has been faithfully captured in graphic novel form.
At around 120 oversized pages, this is made even more special with campaign exclusives like the Deluxe Opera House Case, the 100th Anniversary Edition of the original movie program, and even the first draft script of the 1925 film. Add the chance to also pick up the Frankenstein and Dracula companion books, and this campaign becomes a celebration of horror’s golden age. If you love monsters, history, and gorgeous comics, you need to check this out.
