It’s awfully hard to keep a great story down — such as a story like The Life and Death of Lucas Dreamwalker, the horror tale that refuses to die. From the mind of R.L. Stine and Francesco Francavilla, Lucas Dreamwalker initially started as a short in BOOM! Studios’ wildly popular Hello Darkness anthology. Now, it’s being collected by its lonesome for the first time.
BOOM! has announced The Life and Death of Lucas Dreamwalker #1, a one-shot collecting the character’s three Hello Darkness shorts. This time around, the oversized floppy will feature new covers from Francavilla and Rebeca Puebla.
“This brings me back to Tales from the Crypt and the other horror comics I devoured as a kid. I’m so excited to be part of this anthology series designed to make the world a scarier place!” Stine previously said when the anthology was first announced.
“I’ve been a fan of R.L. Stine and his work (Goosebumps, Fear Street, etc.) for some time and I’ve been a fan of all horror things my whole life,” Francavilla added. “So I’m very excited to be joining creative forces with him for a brand new scary tale for BOOM!’s new anthology. Can’t wait for you all to embark on this spine-chilling journey with us!”
Hello Darkness is a who’s who of horror legends, featuring stories from creators like the aforementioned crew, Becky Cloonan, Cullen Bunn, James Tynion IV, Liana Kangas, Marguerite Bennett, Michael Conrad, Martín Morazzo, Andy Lanning, and countless others. The series is currently solicited through its 20th issue, which is set for release in April.
The Life and Death of Lucas Dreamwalker #1 will be available at your local comic shop beginning May 27th.
