Courtesy of Dark Horse, we can exclusively reveal the next entry in the publisher’s Marvel collaboration Bullpen Books will be The Art of The Mighty Thor, a 200-page celebration of Jack Kirby and Walt Simonson‘s runs on the God of Thunder’s series. Edited by Ian Chalgren, John Lind, and Chris Ryall, the hardcover release will newly scanned art from Marvel’s archives, an essay, commentaries, and a new introduction from Simonson himself.

“The brilliance of both artists’ landmark work on Thor is fully on display in this format,” co-editor Chris Ryall says. “And in addition to the gorgeous pencils and inks showcased in these Bullpen Books editions, the editorial notes throughout the book add historical insight and fun color commentary as further enhancement to the black-and-white artwork.”
The book will include two stories from Kirby’s original 1962-1970 run, 1966’s Thor Annual #2 (where Thor participates in a tournament on Asgard) and Thor #134 (which marked the first appearance from the High Evolutionary.) Simonson’s 1983-87 run will be represented by its first four issues, Thor #337-340, which introduced the character of Beta Ray Bill.
It marks the third entry in the Bullpen Books line, which began in 2024 with The Art of The Amazing Spider-Man, celebrating John Romita Sr.‘s work on the title. It continued with this year’s The Art of Fantastic Four, spotlighting the original run by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
The Art of The Mighty Thor will retail for $59.99 when it’s released in bookstores on June 9, 2026, and comics shops the following day. You can pre-order it now from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, your local bookstore, or comic shop.
