As for the identity of new entity “Lion and Crown”, a Texas business registry shows that it is owned by Joshua Wilson, who is also the owner of Fandom Events.
I’m not enough of an expert in anime events to know what this all means – but for some tea there is a Reddit thread. Allowing for the usual outrage boost inherent in Reddit, it sounds like this family of events had some complaints in the past. In addition, they say Wilson was on the Ecchi Expo discord stating “We will still host conventions under a different banner, stay tuned for updates.”
Again I am not an expert, but this sounds like the increasingly popular “start a new LLC and transfer assets while shutting down the old one” maneuver.
