Amazon certainly is persistent with their 99¢ digital graphic novel sales.  Last week, DC: The New Frontier, Vol. 1 was briefly on sale for 99¢.  Tonight, New Frontier Vol. 1 returns to 99¢ pricing and is joined by Brightest Day, Vol. 3.

As I said last week, New Frontier is a masterpiece by the late and sorely missed Darywn Cook.  If you haven’t tried it, it’s well worth a buck to sample the first half of it.

Brightest Day is a different beat entirely.  It was a bi-weekly Event maxi-series that ran in 2010-2011 as a sort of follow-up to Blackest Night, featuring some of the characters who’d been resurrected at the end of Blackest Night.  I don’t recall being particularly taken by it at the time and this was essentially the run-up to DC needing to do the New 52 reboot.  Plenty of talent involved with Geoff Johns and Peter Tomasi writing and rotating art by Ivan Reis, Patrick Gleason, Scott Clark, Joe Prado and Adrian Syaf.  Strangely, this is the final volume of the series and the first two volumes aren’t on sale… on Amazon.  Volume 1 and Volume 2 are on sale for $5.99 each at Comixology right now.  Smells like boundary testing on sale prices and platforms to me, but if it tickles your fancy, that final volume is 99¢.

We’ll see how long this sale stays up.
