The price for a digital subscription to the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic 2000 AD – home of Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper and more – is about to become a tiny bit dearer. A mailer to subscribers this week announced that the price for digital subscriptions to the weekly prog and its monthly sister title, the Judge Dredd Megazine will increase on July 9.

The email said:

“Dear Subscriber,

“We hope this email finds you well. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and loyalty to 2000 AD and, as a valued subscriber, we wish to let you know about an upcoming change to the pricing of digital subscriptions to both 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine.

“Starting from July 9th 2025 we will be adjusting the prices for monthly, quarterly and annual subscriptions.”

Adding:

“The out-of-subscription price of a single digital Judge Dredd Megazine will also be increasing from Meg 480 [the current issue].

“We understand that price changes are never easy, and we want to assure you that this decision was only made after careful consideration. Our goal is to continue offering the best possible value to our readers, and we are deeply grateful for your continued readership and support.”

Prices for monthly, quarterly and yearly 2000 AD subscriptions will increase by around 10% for Brits while US prices will increase by around 30%. The price magnifier for US readers appears to be the current dollar exchange rate to British pound sterling.

The Judge Dredd Megazine monthly subscription price on digital will see an increase by £1 in the UK and $2 in the US – sharing a 30% and 50% jump across the board for the quarterly and annual subs (don’t worry, we have charts).

A digital subscription is currently the only way for international fans of the science fiction anthology to stay up to date with stories as they are published in the UK. Diamond and Lunar distribute 2000 AD prog packs of the print edition to the direct market but they are usually around three months behind.

The digital price is set to rise from Judge Dredd Megazine #480

2000 AD offers a pretty good deal on the digital side – as the progs are DRM-free so readers can stay up to date via their comics (or PDF) reader of choice – or can read via the official 2000 AD app. Subscribers also enjoy a 50% discount on the webshop which can be handy in picking up print or digital collections of classic stories or digital back issues stretching back to 2002. They also get other special deals direct to their inbox.

Up to now the cost of a digital issue of 2000 AD has been £1.99 and the Judge Dredd Megazine £3.99 (reduced to £3.49 on monthly subscription). It seems the cost of both may be rising but the email only mentions that the Megazine will rise to £4.49 on subscription. Both remain significantly less than their print editions which retail for £3.80 and £6.99 respectively in the UK – and are much steeper once you add in US shipping and distribution costs (plus the turbulent exchange rate).
