GIRLS WITH SLINGSHOTS cartoonists Danielle Corsetto kicks off her mini-tour of the Northeast with a gathering at a Manhattan restaurant and lounge called The Trailer Park.

Retailer Heros Aren’t Hard to Find hosts a discussion of Dash Shaw’s acclaimed 2008 graphic novel BOTTOMLESS BELLY BUTTON, led by Andy Mansell. As a life-long lover of book discussion clubs, I raise a cup of cheer.

As part of the Seattle Public Library’s month-long “Comixtravaganza” series of events, the library’s University Branch hosts a draw-a-thon with local artist Justin Norman, who will give tips on drawing and becoming a comics pro. Participants will draw and design their own comic books, with the best work winning a prize. Sponsored in part by retailer Zanadu Comics.

San Francisco, CA 6:30 PM – 10 PMOne. Hundred. Beasts! opening reception

Fantagraphics‘ group monster art show travels to San Francisco, where it will run through February 18 at the Giant Robot gallery. Curated by Fanta art director Jacob Covey, the show features illustrations from the publisher’s BEASTS! BOOK 1 and BEASTS! BOOK 2 and features work from more than 100 artists, many who will be at the opening reception.

Toronto, ON, 3 PM – 8 PM – Danielle Corsetto at Paradise Comics

Danielle Corsetto, cartoonists of the weekdaily webcomic GIRLS WITH SLINGSHOTS makes an appearance at Paradise Comics. She will have paperback collections to sign, and exclusive art prints to give away.

Sunday, January 18

San Francisco, CA, 2 PMSunday with Moral Orel

Dino Stamatopoulos and Scott Adsit, creators of the Adult Swim stop-motion comedy MOREL OREL will screen episodes of the show along with live commentary at the Eureka Theatre as park of San Francisco’s Sketchfest comedy festival. Tickets are $15. The event is co-presented by the Cartoon Art Museum.
