2018 has been a good year for all things Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The property was recently acquired by Hasbro, putting it in the ranks of G.I. Joe and Transformers. It’s also having one of the best event stories in comics this year with the Boom! Studios event Shattered Grid. Now the Power Rangers: Legacy Wars mobile fighting game is getting a crossover with Capcom’s Street Fighter.
In the Power Rangers: Legacy Wars mobile game, players will be able to add iconic fighters such as Ryu and Chun-Li to their existing lineups of fan favorite Rangers and villains from Saban Brands’ Power Rangers franchise.
The game’s developer nWay under oversight by Capcom incorporated character models, animations, combos and abilities from the Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition console game to this mobile fighter. What it means for fans is the content will be as true to Street Fighter form as you’ll see on the mobile platform.
Starting today, with subsequent additional content to come in the following weeks, players can get classic Street Fighter II characters Chun-Li, Guile, and Ryu and on [UPDATE: May 16] Akuma will be available. Other characters include Cammy and the villainous leader of Shadoloo, M. Bison in June.
The Street Fighter characters are free to try out immediately in Power Rangers Legacy Wars limited time challenge mode. If you want to permanently unlock the Street Fighter characters, players can buy them through in-app purchase or by grinding for character shards.

Power Rangers: Legacy Wars is free to download on the App Store and Google Play.
Also, it should be noted the future plans for Hasbro’s acquisition of the Power Rangers IP are still unclear. Currently, many of Hasbro’s properties are published in licensed comics at IDW who have also published Street Fighter crossovers in the past. While Boom! Studios currently holds a license to publish Power Rangers comics, it certainly isn’t out of the realm of possibility for the fates to align in the future and IDW to make this Crisis on Infinite Game Screens.
