It’s been nearly a year since the explosive first season finale of Stargirl that teased what’s to come in Season 2. Transitioning from the DC Universe streaming platform to The CW, today the Stargirl Season 2 trailer was released.

Fans will recall that former Injustice Society member The Shade was mentioned throughout the first season and returned to Blue Valley by the end of the season. In the trailer, Shade as played by Jonathan Cake is fully revealed.  Originally a foe for The Flash, Shade was reinvented as an enigmatic antihero during the acclaimed Starman comic series written by James Robinson, who happens to be involved as a producer and writer on Stargirl.

The Stargirl Season 2 trailer also offers a brief glimpse of the magical Thunderbolt genie as voiced by comedian Jim Gaffigan. Perhaps most noteworthy is the reveal of Jennifer Lynn-Hayden, the daughter of Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott, played by Ysa Penarejo as confirmed by Entertainment Weeekly. As most comic fans are well aware, the character follows in her father’s footsteps taking on the moniker Jade.

DC’s Stargirl Season 2 premieres Tuesday, August 10 on The CW.

DC’S STARGIRL follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (series star Brec Bassinger, Bella and the Bulldogs, School of Rock, The Goldbergs) as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series. The series focuses on the character that started creator Geoff Johns’ career as a comic book writer when he created her in 1999, lovingly inspired by his late sister who was killed in a 1996 plane crash.

Geoff Johns (Arrow, Batwoman, The Flash, Titans) executive produces DC’S STARGIRL with Melissa Carter (Queen Sugar), who serves as co-showrunner, as well as Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Greg Beeman. Based on the characters from DC created by Geoff Johns, DC’S STARGIRL is produced by Berlanti Productions and Mad Ghost Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. DC’S STARGIRL stars Brec Bassinger, Luke Wilson, Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Cameron Gellman, Trae Romano, Jake Austin Walker, Hunter Sansone, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson and Christopher James Baker.
