Marvel Studios brought its A-game to Hall H on Saturday night, where Kevin Feige announced the entirety of Marvel’s much-anticipated Phase 4, including Black Widow and The Eternals for 2020, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings for 2021, as well as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder, also for 2021.
Additionally, Feige brought the casts of Marvel’s planned Disney+ TV series on stage to talk about what’s to come in these new, MCU-integrated shows. First up were Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, a.k.a. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. They each held Cap’s shield at different points in the panel, nodding both to Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) presenting Sam with the shield in Avengers: Endgame, but also Bucky’s time with the shield and Captain America moniker in the comics.
Stan said he’s excited to explore “The Falcon, as a character…what kind of man is this man?”
Mackie added,“I want to see what makes him tick…what ticks him off…” He continued, “We’re living our dream…when we go to work we’re having a really good time.”
It was also confirmed during the panel that Daniel Brühl will reprise his role as Helmut Zemo in the TV series. A video of him saying the Winter Soldier’s codewords was presented on the Hall H screen. Then, “Okay, so those don’t work anymore…but I just wanted to see my old friends.”
Next up on the Disney+ roster was WandaVision, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany. The series will take place after the events of Endgame and will also feature a grown-up Monica Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris. The series premieres in spring 2021 and was described by Feige as “a major event series” for the MCU. How Vision will be revived has yet to be seen.
Tom Hiddleston made his return to Hall H to raucous applause and cheers from the audience. The Loki series will debut in spring 2021 and answer the question of where Loki went with the Tesseract after the events of Endgame. Hiddleston called the series one of the most exciting creative challenges he’s come across.
More than two dozen actors from the MCU will reprise their roles for the animated Marvel/Disney+ series What If…? which explores alternate universes for the characters. The series debuts in summer 2021.
Following that, Disney+ will premiere Hawkeye, in which Jeremy Renner will reprise his role as Clint Barton and, according to him, explore his new role of Ronin more thoroughly. The series will also feature Kate Bishop, the better Hawkeye, though Feige did not announce who will take on that role. The logo features the same font and style as the Matt Fraction and David Aja Hawkeye comics run.
