Scream 2007 gives kudos to gore, comics

0

While any award that recognizes “most memorable mutilation” and includes Michael Bay as best director must be viewed with caution, at least SCREAM 2007 will present a televised kudocast (aka “awards show”) that includes comics. You can see the complete list of nominees, including horror and fantasy films, at the above link, but here are the relevant comics categories. And seeing Pia Guerra nominated as Best Comics Book Artist does warm our heart just a bit. We’re pulling for lesbian sex, ourselves.

  1. MOST SHOCKING COMIC BOOK TWIST
    — ALICE IN WONDERLAND AND DOROTHY FROM OZ HAVE LESBIAN SEX!, LOST GIRLS

Anyone who knew the slightest bit about this book before it came out was pretty much expecting this. It was practiically the tag line.

  2. As the article also mentions:
Spike TV has partnered again with Comic-Con International to announce the Comic-Con Icon Award, presented to an individual or group who has been instrumental in creating awareness of, and appreciation for, comic and related popular art forms, and bringing this great medium to wider recognition. This year’s award will be presented to Neil Gaiman, one of the top writers of modern comics, short stories and novels.

  3. MOST SHOCKING COMIC BOOK TWIST
    — ALICE IN WONDERLAND AND DOROTHY FROM OZ HAVE LESBIAN SEX!, LOST GIRLS

They could at least mention Wendy, given all the brouhaha over her being in the book. :>
