RIP David Anthony Kraft

He had been battling COVID since April.

Comics writer and Comics Interview publisher David Anthony Kraft has passed away after a battle with COVID-related pneumonia. His passing was announced on Facebook by his wife Jennifer Bush-Kraft.

Kraft was born in 1952 and is best known for his Marvel writing in the 70s — especially his run on The Defenders, which included “The Scorpio Saga.” Kraft was part of a group of writers known for writing “relevant” stories, as they called it then, and he’s definitely one of the reasons I was a Marvel Fan all the way back then. He also had a notable run on The Savage She- Hulk.

Kraft went on to edit Comics Interview magazine and founding specialty science fiction publisher Fictioneer Books. Comics Interview ran for 150 issues from 1983 to 1995; it’s a priceless resource of comics history.

Kraft had many friends in the industry and kept up a lively correspondence on his FB page. His passing was mourned on social media.

Our condolences to his family and friends.

  1. A great creator who will be missed. I loved his Defenders run, back in the day. And I read Comics Interview religiously. Condolences to his family.
