This will definitely be one of the most talked about books for the second half of the year, a graphic memoir by Rep. John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Eisner-winner Nate Powell. MARCH will be a firsthand account of Lewis’s life in the the Civil Rights movement, including the 1963 March on Washington and the 1965 Selma-Montgomery March. It’s the first time a sitting member of Congress has written a graphic novel—in collaboration with his aide Aydin. The book will be promoted at BookExpo America, the American Library Association’s Annual Conference, and Comic-Con International. The first volume of a proposed trilogy, it comes out on August 13th, just before the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs & Freedom.

  1. Congrats to Chris, Brett and the rest of the Top Shelf family, this is a major coup. If no one has noticed, can I point out that Top Shelf has become a literary comics publisher? Blankets, From Hell, Tales from Essex County…and now working with a man like John Lewis, telling his story about his life in the Civil Rights movement, they keep pushing the bar higher and higher.
Really looking forward to the book(s)!
