Angry Birds the animated series is coming to Netflix – no – flocking to Netflix with an order for 40 11-minute episodes. Titled Angry Birds: Summer Madness, the show will take its characters back in time to their old summer camp and questionable eagle guidance counselor.
CAKE is producing the Angry Birds animated series alongside the franchise’s creators, Rovio, for a 2021 release date.
“Angry Birds animated content plays a key role in our long-term franchise strategy. After more than a decade in hit games, blockbuster movies and licensed products, this is the Angry Birds’ first foray into a longform series. We’re delighted to continue our partnership with CAKE and can’t wait to unveil the world of Angry Birds: Summer Madness to viewers on Netflix.”
The Angry Birds franchise was, just 11 years ago, only a mobile game involving the calculated catapulting of circular avians into various structures to murder green pigs. In the time since, Finnish company Rovio has flown its creation onto the silver screen twice, launched comics, toys, plushies, soft drinks (!!!) and various amusement park attractions. Now, the Angry Birds animated series joins an increasingly impressive slate of content over at Netflix which already includes orders for Jeff Smith’s Bone, Green Eggs and Ham and uh, Boss Baby I guess is in there, too.
