Thunderbolts is coming!

0

The whole Marvel lovin’ world is waiting for the thrilling reveals from the MCU panel at D23, Disney’s very own fancon. Our own Rebecca Oliver Kaplan is on the scene so follow live tweets at @comicsbeat, and check out my live updates here! The panel is NOT being livestreamed so we’ll all have to follow along virtually.

• Disney Chairman Alan Bregman is starting the presentation, talking about how Lucasfilms and MCU weren’t even part of Disney 20 years ago.

• And now Lucasfilms Kathleen Kennedy is up.

• First up the cast of Andor, which debuts later this month, a “24 episode spy story”, with Diego Luna explaining a bit about his character.

  • Luna is also a producer which excites him. And why not. Final Andor trailer now drops.

• And now…..WILLOW! Something my family will go nuts for – they are charter members of the Willow cult.

Warwick Davis and Joanne Whalley are on stage…and will have scenes together this time, unlike the film.

§ Surprise Casting announcement!

Christian Slater joines the Willow cast, and Warwick Davis mentions that we will NOT see Madmartigan in the series because…there can never be any Madmartigan besides Val Kilmer, right?

New Willow trailer:

• And now back to Star Wars  – Bad Batch season 2 is official and Tales of the Jedi 2 coming out on October 23rd – a series of Star Wars animated shorts. It will feature Young Dooku among others!

Tales of the Jedi Trailer released – all six start streaming on October 26th.

Jon Favreau comes out on stage, it’s Ahsoka time. Filoni says many of the Ahsoka staff grew up watching Clone Wars so…that’s how long this has been!

• And now Jude Law comes out to talk about Skeleton Crew – yes Law is now double dipping in Star Wars AND MCU! What a trooper.

• Skeleton Crew is about “a group of kids who get lost in the Star Wars galaxy,” set in the New Republic.

• Mandalorian Season 3: Rick Famiyuwa joins as an executive producer. No reveals except that they are working hard.

Cast – Pedro Pascal, Amy Sedaris, Giancarlo Esposito, Katee Sackoff, Emily Swallow et al –  banters about making the show, actually getting to meet each other back stage for the first time. Sedaris complains that when she tries to adlib she’s told “They wouldn’t say that in space.” #FreeSedaris

• Mandalorian 3 teaser is shown – Grogu! Coming in 2023! And uh oh, sh•t getting real for Mando! “You are a Mandalorian no more!”

• Continuing our Lucasfilms tour, It’s Indiana Jones time! Director James Mangold is out to talk about the fifth and (we hope) final film.

Indy 5 trailer is shown – Indy riding a horse and other derring do. Indy says “”I’ve come to believe it’s not so much what you believe.. it’s how hard you believe it.”

Harrison Ford comes out, tearing up according to some accounts. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is also out.

  • AND NOW! MCU!

Kevin Feige shook to be following new Indy footage.

• They are doing Rogers the musical live. Yes they are.

  • Ryan Coogler out to discuss Wakanda Forever. Picking up right where Hall H left off. Showing some new, exclusive footage.

Footage shows the Dora Milaje in battle and Queen Ramonda dealing with those who say “our King is dead.” Namor in battle with M’Baku! (Chadwick Boseman was made a Disney legend yesterday.)

Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta, and Angela Bassett join Coogler on stage.

• Feige says Black Panther 2 is “The biggest thing we’ve ever done.”

• First look at Ironheart! Anthony Ramos, Jim Rash, and Dominique Thorne all featured in teaser. Ramos is playing Parker Robbins, AKA The Hood, the villain. Riri wants to build “something like that but better,” of Iron Man armor.

• Next up: Ant-Man and The Wasp in Quantumania, with Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Jonathan Majors out to talk.

*Eerie youthful Rudd via Screen Rant.

• And a teaser is being shown! Lucky folks. Scott Lang is Baskin Robbins Employee of the Century – if they mention the Mango Fruit Blast again, I will die.

Randall Park is back as Agent Jimmy Woo! Woo hoo!

Uh oh!

*Majors’ Kang blackmails Scott – he’s got to pull a heist in the Quantum Realm or he’ll never see Cassie again!

  • BILL MURRAY IS IN QUANTUMANIA.

And…incredibly – it’s Werewolfin’ Time! This is a real thing!

Gael Garcia Bernal and Laura Donnelly are the leads! It’s a Halloween special that will air on October 8th. A spooky teaser is shown in the vein of old horror movies.

That includes teasing Man-Thing for his first MCu appearance!

Don Cheadle is now out to introduce Secret Invasion trailer and info. Nick Fury and Maria Hill are joined by Emilia Clarke, Olivia Coleman (!!!), and Ben Mendolsohn.

Olivia Coleman in the MCU!

• Also a tease of Armor Wars, also starring Cheadle. Filming to begin next year, picks up where Secret Invasion left off.

• And now Loki season 2 with…Ke Huy Quan, a time stream jumper veteran!

• Quick FF confirmation that Matt Shakman (Wandavision) will direct. Feige says nothing else to say which means…there is more to say. But not today!

• First look at Echo. Vincent D’onofrio returns as Kingpin, is shown in final shot with a bandage on his eye. Star Alaqua Cox is also on stage, and signs that this is only her second role. Chaske Spencer and Cody Lightning also out. Graham Greene is out, says he’s working with actors he’s known since they were little. Everyone had to learn ASL for the show.

• Waiting for that one more thing………

• D’onofrio stays out and CHARLIE COX COMES ON! Daredevil time!

• Daredevil Born Again is coming with 18 new episodes. Filming begins next year.

Some footage of Daredevil in She-Hulk is shown.

• The Leader!

Anthony Mackie and director Julius Onah come out to say a bit about Captain America New World Order, which they characterize as a thriller.

Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson and Dany Ramirez are back. Nelson last played The Leader all the way back in Incredible Hulk! Deep cuts.

• Aaaaaannnnnnddddd: THUNDERBOLTS! Takes place in a world without the Avengers. Julia Louis Dreyfus and David Harbour are on stage, Florence Pugh sends a video and Sebastian Stan will also appear.

The lineup: Valentina, Ghost, Red Guardian, Yelena, Bucky, US Agent, Taskmaster!

Oh yeah! Scoop up all those lovable villains from the last 15 years and make a whole new team out of them. Just like the comics!

• And it goes on and on! The Marvels are out now! Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Parris and director Nia DaCosta are on stage.

This is the last Marvel presentation – still have Avatar to go.

• First Marvels footage said to have a light hearted tone. The three Marvels replace each other when they use their powers – gotta get that fixed. Goose is also back!

• And that wraps up Marvel! Now James Cameron is calling in via Zoom for Avatar the War of Water, set in 2022 Los Angeles far off Pandora.

Avatar 4 has just begun filming. We haven’t even had 2 & 3 yet! Cocky.

• Cast is out including Stephen Lang whose character is miraculously alive again.

Sigourney Weaver and the most successful movie star of all time, Zoe Saldana, are out. And for the clips, people are getting 3D glasses. Aughts flashbacks here!

• Unrelated scenes shown but VFX said to be outstanding.

• And I guess that’s it! What a day! I’ll leave you with crying Harrison Ford! As it should always be.
