Lion Forge has been adding elite staff as they ramp up for a big plan to be announced (we suspect) at New York Comic Con. And they’ve just added Andrea Colvin Roar Comics Senior Editor.
Roar is Lion Forge’s all ages line, and Colvin seems well suited to run it as she was previously VP of Content, Book Division, for Andrews McMeel, Director of Publishing Operations for Open Road Integrated Media, as well as Executive Managing Editor for ABRAMS. In addition, she was an Adjunct Professor in NYU’s Graduate Publishing Program in 2011 and completed the Yale University Publishing Course in 2013.
“Lion Forge wants parents and young people to find what they are looking for in both comic shops and book stores” said president Geoff Gerber in a statement. “That means thinking creatively about graphic literature and helping creators connect with their audiences. Andrea Colvin’s experience working with creators and actively engaging change in the industry make Lion Forge better on delivering its promise of ‘Comics for Everyone.’ Her passion for comics, children’s literature, and innovation in publishing make her the right person to lead our efforts with children and young adults.”
While at her previous gigs, Colvin acquired a bunch of excellent titles including
Desmond Pucket Makes Monster Magic (October 2013) by Mark TatulliKid Beowulf: The Blood-Bound Oath (August 2016) by Alexis E. Fajardo
Stinky Cecil in Terrarium Terror! (February 2016) By Paige Braddock
So yeah, a shame no one wants to publish kids comics and that kids don’t even like the comics that they are getting.*
Lion Forge has recently added Geoff Gerber, Rich Johnson, Syndee Barwick, Mark Smylie, Devin Funches and Joe Illidge, as well as managing editor Beth Scorzato. A pretty impressive line-up.
