Jeff Lemire’s ESSEX COUNTY to be adapted for television

0

The Essex County trilogy from Top Shelf is a touching tribute to rural life (and hockey!) in Canada, made years before Jeff Lemire became the well-known writer of comics like Animal Man, Green Arrow, and All-New Hawkeye. The collected edition is still one of my favorite graphic novel tomes from the past decade. And now, thanks to First Generation Films, Essex County is getting the adaptation it rightfully deserves.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aaron Martin (Killjoys) will be writing the pilot script for the series, currently in development for Canada’s CBC network.  Martin and Lemire will executive produce, along with Ted Adams, Chris Staros, and Christina Piovesan.

This is the second Lemire property to see live action interest, as Sony optioned his Image series Descender as a feature film.

Congrats Jeff! Always great to see good thing happen for good people!

Also, if you haven’t read the collected edition, get on that!
