Have you had a chance to check out the first season of Sweet Tooth on Netflix? The series reveals a world that has been ravaged by a deadly pandemic… but hope shines through, including in the form of hybrid babies: part human, part animal, and all adorable.

You can stream the first season of Sweet Tooth right now on Netflix.

Based on the comic created by Jeff Lemire and published by DC Comics imprint Vertigo, Sweet Tooth follows the story of Gus (Christian Convery), a deer hybrid who ends up crossing paths with Big Man (Nonso Anozie). As they continue their journey together, they meet up with many others who have survived into the brave new world… but not everyone proves to be an ally!

The Beat got a chance to interview the stars of the show over Zoom in order to find out all about filming the season in New Zealand during the COVID-19 pandemic, which costume items were specifically designed to be incorporated into performances, and what it was like to play a despicable villain in a show that has an innocent hero!

First up is The Beat’s interview with Stefania LaVie Owen (who played Bear) and Dania Ramirez (who played Aimee Eden):

Next, check out The Beat in conversation with the actors playing the more morally ambiguous element of Sweet Tooth‘s first season, Neil Sandilands (who portrayed General Abbot) and Adeel Akhtar (who played Dr. Singh):

You’ll want to be sure and stay tuned to The Beat this week for more interviews with the cast and crew of Sweet Tooth on Netflix, including series headliners Convery and Anozie, narrator James Brolin, the showrunners behind the Netflix adaptation and the original creator of the Sweet Tooth comic, Lemire!

The first season of Sweet Tooth is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
