GWENPOOL returns in new miniseries by Leah Williams and David Baldeon

Gwendolyn Poole will not be kept down. Marvel has announced, via CBR, that Gwenpool will be returning in a new five-issue miniseries. Gwenpool Strikes Back will be written by Leah Williams (Age of X-Man: X-Tremists), with art by David Baldeon (Domino). The series will follow Gwen’s attempts to stay out of comic book limbo by placing herself at the center of huge events within the Marvel Universe. The solicitation for the first issue has Gwen attempting to reveal Spider-Man’s secret identity to the world.
After first appearing as a ‘Gwen-ified’ alternate version of Deadpool on a variant cover, Gwenpool developed a cult following that led to her own ongoing series in 2016. The Unbelievable Gwenpool ran for 25 issues and established Gwenpool as Gwendolyn Poole, a comic book super-fan of another universe who was transported to the Marvel U. Gwen developed the ability to step outside of panels and travel backward and forward in the pages of a comic at will. When she popped up in the too-short-lived West Coast Avengers following her own series’s end, her abilities weren’t working, but she was just as entertaining as ever, and she began an awkward relationship with Quentin Quire and gained a new friend in Jeff the Land Shark. Hopefully Jeff will put in an appearance in Gwenpool Strikes Back (though I’d be okay with the Quire relationship was never spoken of again).
Check out the cover and solicitation info for the five-issue miniseries below. Gwenpool Strikes Back #1 is due in stores in August.

POOL’S OUT FOR SUMMER!
That’s right — everyone’s favorite comics-fan-turned-comics character is back, and this time, she’s playing for keeps! Gwen Poole is desperate not to disappear into comic book limbo, so she’s going to make an impact on the Marvel Universe! First up: Unmask Spider-Man! And heck, maybe see if she can get some real super-powers while she’s at it!

  1. I look forward to it, but what’s gonna happen with the other West Coast Team? Especially Jeff and Quentin? Please don’t break my ship, Marvel. I’ve suffered enough.
