Get Your First Look at Spider-Man in the New CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Trailer

For quite some time now, fans and critics have been speculating on the nature of Spider-Man’s role in Captain America: Civil War.  In the latest trailer for the film, released today, we finally catch a glimpse of the punny webslinger as he chooses a side in the war to come.

In a historic cross-studio deal between Sony and Marvel, Spider-Man will be played by newcomer Tom Holland as Chris Evan’s Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man duke it out over superheroic accountability.

Holland’s costume seems a lot brighter and more silver-age than Spider-Man costumes we’ve seen in the past.  It’s jarring to see him come in at the tail end of the trailer, given how light he both looks and feels in comparison to the grim-dark nature of the trailer and the rest of the cast’s costumes.

Civil War releases on May 6th, 2016.

Political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes the heroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) must pick a side.

  1. Interesting… is this the first time Spider-Man’s mask eyes have been animated?
(And will Stark hire him as a scientist?)
