Get well soon, Phil Yeh!

Artist Phil Yeh is a familiar sight at comics and books shows, painting murals as part of his “Cartoonists Across the World” literacy campaign which he’s been doing for over 20 years.

Just a week ago, at the Big Apple Con, I was chatting with him, and marveling at the long line for artist Phil Ortiz, who was drawing Simpsonized caricatures of congoers.

However, Phil Yeh was absent at his BEA booth, and his girlfriend Linda has revealed that he suffered a small stroke on Monday and was hospitalized in NYC until Thursday. However, the prognosis is very good, writes Linda: “we are confident he will be fine with some physical therapy. It is impossible to keep him down.”

Phil is one of my old-time mentors, who gave me my start interviewing people like Moebius and Matt Groening back in the day. He is indeed impossible to keep down and we wish him the speediest of recoveries!
