DC’s two-month Future State event kicked off this week with a look at possible futures for some of DC’s most iconic characters. The event continues next week with half-a-dozen more titles added to the mix. Now DC has released a preview of the first six pages for Future State: Kara Zor-El, Superwoman #1. The two-issue series, written by Marguerite Bennett, illustrated by Marguerite Sauvage, lettered by Wes Abbott, and featuring cover art by Paulina Ganucheau, follows an older, adult Kara Zor-El as she protects a colony on the Moon, where refuges from Earth have settled to create new lives for themselves.

Sauvage’s artwork on the opening pages of the issue is gorgeous, and the pages set an interesting tone from the jump. Certainly opening with Kara saying goodbye to a beloved friend will put her in a pretty specific frame of mind once the action kicks in. Check out the six-page preview, as well as the main cover by Ganucheau and a variant cover by Alex Garner, below. Look for Future State: Kara Zor-El, Superwoman #1 (of 2) to arrive in stores and digitally next Tuesday, January 12th.

Kara Zor-El, Superman’s hot-tempered cousin, has finally found peace and purpose away from Earth and its heroes. Now known as Superwoman, she watches over the Moon and the refugees from across the galaxy who have congregated there. But all of that is about to change when a spaceship piloted by a runaway alien crash-lands and turns Kara’s world upside down! Does this fugitive come in peace? Or does this arrival bring war to our hero’s front door?
