What do you get when two displaced heroines from very different worlds must team up with the iconic girls of Riverdale to solve a string of grisly murders? Red Sonja & Vampirella Meet Betty & Veronica #3, that’s what.
Written by Amy Chu (Red Sonja, KISS: The End, Poison Ivy) and drawn by artist Maria Laura Sanapo (DC Comics Bombshells, Charmed), the third installment of the new epic crossover promises a higher body count and even more mystery as the iconic characters realize their leads on who the killer might be are drying up quickly. Unfortunately for Vampi and Red Sonja, they are the outsiders here, and the local police start wondering if they may be behind the problems in their quaint little town. The foursome realize they better find that murderer fast before the crimes are pinned on Vampirella and Sonja!
Covers for this issue are brought to you by top artists like Fay Dalton, Robert Hack, Laura Braga, Dan Parent, and Cat Staggs. Dalton’s cover has the Daughter of Drakulon behind bars with the rest of her group looking in on her while Hack’s pays homage to another popular Archie Comics’ girl group, Josie & the Pussycats. Braga and Staggs take a more serious turn for their entries, with the latter’s featuring a collage of images from the story arc. Finally Parent delivers a classic Archie look for his cover.
The series has been a fan favorite since its first issue, so much so that Dynamite Comics recently announced that they are extending its run from six issues to 12. Ahead of the third issue, The Beat received an exclusive and extended preview of some of the art. Red Sonja & Vampirella Meet Betty & Veronica #3 will be available in comic shops and online tomorrow, Wednesday August 7. Head to Dynamite’s website for more info on the series.
