The movie may be one step closer to becoming a reality

It seems the long-awaited (and long-rumored) Dungeons and Dragons movie may be one step closer to becoming a reality. Deadline reports that the Paramount/Hasbro/AllSpark Pictures film may be helmed by director duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who recently exited the Warner Bros./DC The Flash movie starring Ezra Miller.

These names are familiar from other projects, as well. Goldstein and Daley directed 2018’s Game Night, a dark comedy where a group of players whose usual game night becomes a kidnapping that may or may not be part of the game. The pair also scripted Spider-Man: Homecoming, which introduced Peter Parker to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Per Deadline, the struggle to put Dungeons and Dragons on the big screen has been a long one that included several years in court over a rights dispute. As the game’s popularity booms through properties like Critical Role and The Adventure Zone, it seems a movie adaptation would do well, if done right. If Goldstein and Daley take the reins, that seems like a strong possibility. The most recent script for the film was penned by Michael Gilio, with Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis producing for AllSpark.

The Beat will continue reporting on the Dungeons and Dragons movie as more details become available. Stay tuned!
