In The Rema Chronicles #1: Realm of the Blue Mist by Amy Kim Kibuishi, Tabby Simon is determined to discover what happened to her father, who was found dead after investigating a local tree that leaks a mysterious mist… but she soon finds herself transported to a distant, magical world: Rema!

The first entry of this exciting upcoming middle grade graphic novel series from Scholastic Graphix will arrive on March 1st, 2022, but today, The Beat is pleased to exclusively reveal the cover and offer you your first preview of The Rema Chronicles!

The Rema Chronicles

Kibuishi offered The Beat this insight about the cover:

“Many of the icons introduced in the book are featured on the cover, but mostly it shows that The Rema Chronicles is a rich fantasy where an Earthling travels to another world. It also reveals a bit of Tabby’s character as a gentle soul who is full of curiosity, and Philip as a reserved soldier-type carrying secrets. It gives readers the promise of a bigger adventure, a hint of possible romance, and an undertone of mystery – all of which feature prominently in the series as a whole.”

Upcoming Launch Event

To celebrate the release of The Rema Chronicles, Kibuishi will be appearing at a hybrid launch event on March 1st, 2022 at 6:00 PM Pacific Time.

Kibuishi will be taking part in an in-person event at Brick & Mortar Books in Redmond, Washington, which will also be livestreamed, so readers can attend virtually (you can register to take part here).

The event will take the form of a conversation between Kibuishi and her husband, Kazu Kibuishi, creator of the Amulet series.
