SPECTRUM TEST 2nd EDITION
Megalith Press has published a second edition of the out of print booklet SPECTRUM TEST by Panayiotis Terzis, originally published by UK based Bronze Age Editions. From Printed Matter’s website:
“In Spectrum Test artist Panayiotis Terzis washes watercolor paintings in and out of color extremes. His subject matter is geometric and playful, within which waves of color swirl and eddy, mimicking the forms at the fringes of oceans and rivers, where water courses through soil. Terzis works in comics, and his flowing geometric paintings are complemented by cartoons of mythical creatures which appear to have been doodled on rainbow scratchboard by a fantastical, bored teenager. Terzis’s work covers all degrees of the visual spectrum, in color, in movement, and in subject matter, enjoying both the gradual and the sudden juxtaposition of opposites.”
Offset printed, 24 pages, $10; published by Megalith Press in an edition of 100.

FANTAGRAPHICS BOOKS, $49.95
Gluyas Williams was cartooning’s hidden hero; in person, as quiet as his work. Cartoonists and fans marvel at his clean lines, flawless compositions, and spotting of blacks. In this oversized PadFolio, you will see the full extent of his brilliance; the finest of the finest by the cartoonists’ cartoonist as he spread his wings, as it were, over double-page spreads in the pages of nearly century-old magazines. Panoramic views of… historic events? Frenzied attractions? Crazy mêlées? No. Here you will find family picnics. Hotel lobbies. Neighborhood get-togethers. The warp and woof of more than American middle-class life: of human nature, of people at their most common, basic, modest preoccupations. The genius of – and in – the everyday. It is the modest magic of a Gluyas Williams panorama. After years of research and restoration, this splendid work has finally been compiled into one anthology. Panoramas of affection and associations, by cartooning’s hidden hero.
