The MCU Multiverse Saga rages on!

It’s barely been a week since Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige outlined MCU Phases 4-6, now officially called “The Multiverse Saga,” during the Hall H presentation at SDCC last weekend. In 2025, the Avengers are assembling once again with two back-to-back films in the same year, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. THR has reported that the studio has tapped Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton to helm Kang Dynasty.

In the wake of the success of Shang-Chi, which grossed $432 million worldwide during the worldwide pandemic, Cretton has been on the rise. Earlier this year, he signed an overall deal with Marvel that include a live-action Disney+ Wonder Man series. Moreover, not only is Cretton working on a Shang-Chi sequel but he’s also involved in a Disney+ adaptation of Gene Luen Yang’s classic graphic novel American Born Chinese.

Details for Kang Dynasty are scarce and few and far between at this time. Introduced at the end of the first season of Loki, the character of Kang played by Jonathan Majors is set to play a far more prominent role in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, film set for release this February Feb. 17, 2023.

As reported by THR, other filmmakers for future MCU projects include Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) directing Blade, scheduled for a Nov. 3, 2023 release; Julius Onah (Luce) is directing Captain America: New World Order scheduled for May 3, 2024; and Jake Schreier (Paper Towns) is directing Thunderbolts, which will close out Phase 5 with a release date of July 26, 2024.

Even with a scaled back SDCC experience, Marvel Studios went all out with its Hall H presentation. So one can only imagine the announcements it has up its sleeves when D23 Expo, the Disney fan event, returns in just a few weeks on Labor Day weekend on Friday, September 9, 2022.

Keep your eyes peeled for continued developments!
