Back in the long long ago, in the early days of the pandemic, before the Diamond shutdown and the direct market pause, Marvel Comics announced a new five-issue miniseries for America Chavez, the multiverse-hopping member of the Young Avengers. Not the publisher has put the series back on their schedule, with a release date for America Chavez: Made in the USA #1 in March of 2021.

America Chavez: Made in the USA is written by Kalinda Vazquez, with line art by Carlos Gómez and covers by Sara Pichelli. No colorist or letterer have been announced for the series yet, nor was the colorist for the cover, though it appears to be Tamra Bonvillain. No information has yet been revealed regarding what the series will be about, but in the initial announcement of the series from back in March, Vazquez said that the character “is going to be tested as she’s never been tested before, and the challenges that she’ll have to face will only force her to pull from even deeper from that well of strength and ferocity that we know lies within her.”

The return of the series to Marvel’s schedule coincides with last week’s announcement that America Chavez will make her MCU debut in the forthcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film. The character will be played by actress Xochitl Gomez, who most recently appeared as Dawn on the excellent Netflix The Baby-Sitters Club series.
