Look, folks, it’s been a hard year, and we all need something to look forward to. That something is The Mandalorian season two, the first episode of which will be available for streaming on Disney+ on October 30th, 2020.

The truth is, everyone finds their own way to The Mandalorian. Some of us can’t resist the cuteness of the Child, the fifty-year-old toddler who looks like Yoda and already problem-solves with the alacrity of a Deus ex Machina three times his age. For others, it was the inclusion of references to classic Star Wars stories, like the many allusions to the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special. And as for the rest… well, some of us just couldn’t resist Din Djarin’s helmet hair.
Whatever drew you into the fold, we can all agree that a mere two months is a not-unreasonable amount of time to wait to see the continued adventures of Din Djarin and his space-wizard babysitting charge.
In the meantime, you could catch up with Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, the behind-the-scenes series that is currently available for streaming on Disney+. Not only does the documentary/interview series feature a Corellian light freighter’s worth of details about the process of bringing The Mandalorian to the screen, but episode four, “Technology,” focuses on the Volume, a special effects device that was surely integral in ensuring that The Mandalorian season two is available for streaming in 2020 in spite of ongoing challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Mandalorian season two isn’t the only Star Wars content that will be appearing on Disney+ before the end of the year. On November 17th, 2020, the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special will be available on the streaming service, ensuring we have fresh Star Wars all winter long… which is good, because if the first nine months of this year have been any indication, we’re all going to be longing for an escape to a galaxy far, far, far away.
