Adapted from the Daniel Clowes’ graphic novel of the same name, Woody Harrelson plays the central role of Wilson, a lonely and neurotic middle aged man who reunites with his estranged wife (Laura Dern), and the film follows his attempts to connect with the daughter he never knew he had.

Clowes wrote the screenplay, much as he did for the seminal Ghost World. The film is directed by Craig Johnson, whose The Skeleton Twins is highly recommendable if you’re looking for good familial drama.
