Missed out on getting passes to this year’s San Diego Comic-Con?

Hoteloween gave you a rock?

There’s still a FEW chances to go to the con, and one of them is this sweepstakes being sponsored by Traveling Stories and IDW Publishing.

Traveling Stories is a charity that helps give kids a love of books by the fourth grade to help them get an edge up on literacy. As one of the statistics posted on the site points out:

Children with the lowest reading scores account for 33% of all students, yet they account for 63% of all children who do not graduate from high school.

In order to publicize their efforts to open story tents around the US, Travelling Stories and IDW are running a sweepstakes: for a donation of $10 you get 20 chances to win the following prize:

The grand prize is 2 four-day passes to SDCC, airfare within the U.S., hotel accommodation, a meet-n-greet with Kevin Eastman, and tickets to the Wynonna Earp cast party.
So to recap, for $10 you get a chance to have an ALL EXPENSES PAID trip for two to San Diego Comic-Con, AND you help kids get a love of reading? Good deal. (And it’s rare for SDCC to sanction these kinds of contests.)
The catch is that the sweepstakes ends on June 14th – Wednesday so better get cracking on that!
Here’s a little bit more about what Traveling Stories does:
Traveling Stories is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that helps kids fall in love with reading by the 4th grade. In America, 82% of children from low-income families cannot read proficiently by the fourth grade. As a result, they are up to 15x more likely to drop out of school, leaving them unqualified for 90% of jobs. Traveling Stories provides free literacy tutoring through a mobile StoryTent program and effectively helps thousands of children become better readers every year.
I know IDW’s Ted Adams works closely with this chairty hence the sponsorship of the pretty swell grand prize.
