Sony PlayStation is getting in the nostalgia trinket market in a major way. Tuesday night, the company announced they’ll begin taking pre-orders for the PlayStation Classic.

Today, we are excited to announce that we are bringing back the original PlayStation experience in a new miniaturized version – PlayStation Classic! The console will come pre-loaded with 20 classic titles, including fan-favorites such as Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms.- PlayStation Blog

The console will be updated to output HDMI and power through mini usb connection. It’ll also be 45% smaller than the original PlayStation system. Not all the games have been announced, but PlayStation will roll out the lineup in anticipation of the December 3, 2018 release date. The unit will come with two controllers and retail for $99.99 USD (MSRP) / $129.99 CAN (MSRP). Sony has said all the games will be in their original form meaning added online functionality is unlikely, but the hardware will allow for suspending points in games similar to what Nintendo does with the SNES mini to get around saves.

If we had to bet on which games will be part of the 20 titles you can almost guarantee Metal Gear Solid and Syphon Filter will be among them. Though I can only hope, somehow, the original Spider-Man PS1 game can be part of the lineup.

As of writing this, only Best Buy had any listing for it. Retailers such as Amazon and Gamestop don’t have a listing yet, though I’d recommend following Wario64 or Cheap Ass Games on Twitter to know the second retailers put PS Classic up for sale or pre-order. With the number of fans willing to travel from all over the world to attend PlayStation Experience the past couple of years, it’s likely this will be THE hard to find item of the holidays.
